SPEECH LANGUAGE SERVICES:
LANGUAGE
*Receptive Language-The comprehension of spoken language; listening and understanding what is communicated.
*Expressive Language-The communication of thoughts and feelings through voice, gestures or written symbols.
ARTICULATION
*The ability to correctly produce phonemes/sounds necessary for producing clear speech.
FLUENCY
*Speech characterized by any irregularity, such as:
-repetition of sound, syllables, words, and/or phrases
-secondary characteristics such as tension, blocks, facial grimaces and/or abnormal breathing patterns
-excessive use of "filler words", such as "um" or "ah"
Voice:
*Problems with vocal quality such as hoarseness, nasality, intensity level, and pitch or intonation.
